La policia revela detalles de accidente de Travis Barker y DJ AM

Travis Barker y DJ AM estaban temblando y gritando un poco cuando llegaron los primeras oficiales de emergencias a ayudarles, en el terrible accidente aéreo que sufrieron el viernes, en donde murieron 4 personas. El teniente Josh Shumpert del South Congaree Police Department en Columbia, S.C.,  habló con E! News sobre su encuentro con el muy herido Baterista de Blink-182, Travis Barker y el famoso DJ AM (a.k.a Adam Goldstein) luego de que milagrosamente escaparan de la muerte en el trágico accidente que cegó las vidas de 4 personas. A first responder to Travis Barker and DJ AM’s weekend plane crash spoke to E! News about the aftermath of the crash. Lt. Josh Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department in Columbia, SC said Travis and DJ AM were “visibly shaken” and “hollering a little bit” when he discovered the pair in the road  f ollowing the accident.

• Los chicos estaban tendidos a un lado del camino, en la carretera 302, con algunos civiles alrededor, dijo el oficial. Estaban muy adoloridos. Preguntaban dónde estaban las ambulancias y me decían que tenían amigos en el avión. Les dije que no podía ir por ellos porque el avión ardía en llamas.
• Shumpert – quien fue el segundo oficial de emergencias en llegar a la escena justo después que  la policia del aeropuerto y fue la cámara de su patrulla la que grabó parte del infierno – dijo que ambos, Barker y Goldstein estaban lo suficientemente lúcidos  para describirle como se habían salido de los restos del avión.
• Ellos dijeron que se dezslizaron por debajo del lado derecho del avión para escapar, relató Shumpert. Estaban envueltos en llamas en ese momento, se revolcaron en el suelo y se golpearon uno al otro para apagarse el fuego.
• El oficial también contradijo las noticias que decían que los músicos habían sido encontrados desnudos.
• Travis llevaba una gorra negra, sin camiseta, con pantalones cortos o boxers. Se podría decir que el cabello de DJ estaba chamuscado y tenia cortaduras en su rostro, dijo Shumpert.
• Otro testigo, un conductor de vehículos pesados (camionero) William Owensle dijo a E! News que DJ ayudó a Barker a quitarse los pantalones luego que se escaparon de los restos.
• Shumpert dijo que mientras esperaban por la ambulancia, Barker pidio agua y le dieron un Gatorade. Al poco tiempo llegaron los cuerpos de rescate y trasladaron a los chicos al centro  de emergencia más cercano.

"The guys were standing on the side of the road, on Highway 302, with a couple of citizens around them," the officer said. "They were in pain, I reckon. They kept asking where the ambulance was and telling me they had friends on the plane. I told them I couldn’t get to it because the plane was engulfed in flames."

Shumpert—who was the second emergency official on the scene just after airport police and whose patrol car’s dashboard camera recorded parts of the inferno—said that both Barker and Goldstein were lucid enough to describe for him how they climbed out of the wreckage.

""They said they slid down the right side of the plane to get out," Shumpert recounted. "They were somewhat on fire at the time, and they rolled around on the ground and jumped on each other to put the fire out."

The officer also contradicted news reports that the musicians were found naked.

"Travis was wearing a black stocking cap, no shirt, but pants or boxers. You could tell the DJ guy’s hair was singed off and he had cuts on his face," said Shumpert. "They were both pacing back and forth in circles."

(Another eyewitness, truck driver William Owens, told E! News earlier that AM helped Barker remove his pants after exiting the wreckage.)

Shumpert said while the pair waited for the ambulance, Barker asked for some water and was given a Gatorade. Shortly after that, EMS turned up and transported the two men to a nearby trauma center.
